There is an immense amount of talent nowadays on the Internet and I feel Youtube is one such platform which has time and again given opportunity to those talented people who have the potential to entertain and there is no denying to the fact that they had been appreciated and loved unanimously by the audience with love pouring in the form of subscribers, likes and comments.

This time I am reviewing a short film released last year which stars Prajakta Koli ,popularly known by her Youtube channel Mostly Sane and is titled Khayali Pulao, also starring Yashpal Sharma.

The story revolves around Aasha, a school going girl who hails from Haryana and is being introduced as a merit holder and topper of the class and wants to make her mark in sports as well for which she wants to be a part of the school’s handball team which is gearing up for an inter-school tournament.

The film very nicely captures how girls in a small town are even scared of using Facebook and are judged even for wearing short pants and hence for the former to happen they prefer using it with a fake user name and yes even that is a kind of struggle for girls there.

Aasha wants to be a part of her school handball team but her problem of slow reflexes makes it difficult to prove her capability and her sports teacher but that doesn’t stop her and this eventually makes it harder for the teacher to understand why is she so determined to make it to the team.

Performances :

Prajakta Koli proves herself to be a great actress with this one again and her expressions, emotions, dialogue delivery and especially her Haryanvi accent is quite impressive. She is about to make her bollywood debut in Dharma Productions upcoming film Jug Jugg Jeeyo and I am really excited to see more of her as an actor.

Yashpal Sharma as the strict but sweet sports teacher is compelling enough. He has been an antagonist in many Bollywood films and TV serials and has time and again proved his worth as a great performer.

Geeta Sharma as Asha’s mother is supportive, loveable and caring. She gives a different dimension to the film with her knowledge of why her daughter wants to try her hand at sports.

Conclusion :

Concluding here I would say it’s a sweet simple story that everyone should watch especially for the breakthrough performance of Prajakta and its underlying message which the story unfolds. Click below to watch the film:
